What are dermal fillers, and what are they used for?
Dermal fillers are a hyaluronic acid based, gel-like substance used to restore lost volume, thereby shaping and sculpting the face from the inside. They can also be used to correct imperfections that require plumping & filling, such as asymmetry.
What is involved?
Dermal fillers are injected into the skin by a Doctor or Registered Nurse with a fine needle, to correct lines, wrinkles and folds and can be used to sculpt lips and contour the face. Dermal filler injections are a quick procedure, taking around 30 to 40 minutes with a topical numbing agent applied to the area prior to injecting.
How long do they last?
Dermal fillers are not permanent, but last approximately 6 to 12 months (this period may vary from person to person). Whilst there are still risks associated with all dermal fillers (and any injectable treatment), HA fillers are our chosen product in an effort to minimise potential complications.
HA Fillers come in various densities, allowing us to tailor treatments to different areas of the face. A thicker filler can be used to mimic bone structure in the cheeks, or a softer filler used to mimic pillow like tissue in the lips.
